Harvey Hockey Club has broken its grand final drought in a stunning win in slippery conditions over Towns South on Saturday.
It was the first grand final win for the club since 1993, when it won the South West Hockey League cup.
The A3 teams were neck and neck up until Harvey put its first goal into the back of the net after almost 30 minutes of play.
Young gun Kieran Davis scored the first goal capitalising on three consecutive short corners.
Towns South continued to crack as Harvey’s pressure escalated around the ground despite the miserable conditions.
Harvey forced Towns to retreat and locked the ball in to create more scoring opportunities for their dynamic forwards.
Centre-forward Keane Bavin was outstanding and slotted the next two goals including a magical backstick tomahawk from directly in front.
Defenders Cameron Pfitzner and Brenton Fielder were brick walls in defence, proving too difficult to manoeuvre around and held Towns goalless for the entirety of the game.
Chris Cherubino was reliable and worked the wing and backline to create space and transition the ball forward.
Paul Pulfer sealed the win in the final term, putting the icing on the cake with an effortless goal.
After finishing third on the ladder, the men in red ran away in the grand final with a four-goal win. Bavin was awarded best on ground.
Harvey’s coach Dean Pfitzner said the team worked well all season.
“The boys did really well, they set goals at the start of the season and they stuck through right to the very end.”
