Respected sports writer Caroline Wilson has made a tongue-in-cheek jab at “bogan West Coast supporters” amid praise for the Eagles’ gutsy comeback victory last night.
The performance of Adam Simpson’s side was a talking point on the ABC’s Offsiders show this morning, following their effort to overcome a deficit at every change last night before rolling to a fifth consecutive victory.
“Look at the crowd, they’re excited,” host Kelli Underwood said as a shot of West Coast members behind the goals was shown.
“Oh, those bogan West Coast supporters,” Wilson replied.
“No, not all of them, but those particular...” she followed as her fellow panellists laughed.
“No, you’ve said it now,” Underwood finished in a jovial tone.

The Optus Stadium crowd of 26,211 marked the biggest since footy returned to WA last month, with the home support appearing to be a factor in West Coast’s strong finish.
Wilson reserved plenty of praise for veteran Eagles spearhead Josh Kennedy, who booted three of his four goals in the final term to spark the win.
“One of the goals that he roved from a Nic Nat tap... one of them was an absolute clutch goal from the flank, an amazing kick,” she said.
“And then that mark in the dying minutes that sealed the game, and that goal - just extraordinary.”
